PRAYER / Lenten Reflection 2005

As Moses lifted up a bronze serpent (still the symbol of medical healing), so Jesus is lifted up as the sacrament of God’s healing and unifying power. If he is lifted up, he promises, he will draw all to himself. We will, through his cross and exaltation (also a "lifting up"), be gathered into one new family of God.

What in your life needs healing? Show your pain, sickness, wounds to Jesus, our physician. What in our world needs healing and unifying? Offer the pain of the world, the suffering of people and all creation to God for transforming.

Jesus, you say, "I do always what is pleasing to God." Strengthen us today to join you in that.
