PRAYER / Lenten Reflection 2005Saturday, March 12, 2005 |

In today’s gospel account, we encounter prejudice of place and ignorance of facts. Galilee is put down and Bethlehem is preferred while Nicodemus is taunted for his willingness to question and discover the truth. When does preference become prejudice? How can unquestioned authority perpetuate ignorance?
Today, let us pray: Holy Spirit, guide with your church on earth. Penetrate opinion and prejudice with your truth and inspire us all, especially those whom you have placed in leadership, to stretch beyond preconception, assumption, and unquestioned tradition.
