PRAYER / Lenten Reflection 2005Wednesday, March 2, 2005 |
![]() |
The concept of law, the law of God, is presented to us in the scriptures today. This law is just. It is up to us to obey and teach these commandments of love, forgiveness, and justice. During the Lenten season, we are encouraged to look to Jesus’ encouraging words of life. We recognize our desire to be nourished and to grow in unity, with God and with one another, in love and prayer. As we reflect on our own spiritual nourishment, we can also look to our sisters and brothers who are hungry and thirsty. We wonder why there are barriers preventing them from having access to food and water. Is this our concern?
Jesus, many times during these last weeks, you have been a source of new life for me. I am grateful. Enable me to bring encouragement and hope to my neighbors, even to my neighbors far away from here. Grant me new insights to assist those who are without sufficient food in my city and my state. May I be a sign of hope for those who are made poor by the current structures.
