"Whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave."
In one of my very first retreats, I remember the director spending the entire retreat on “Washing Feet.” Of course the point was that we serve others first. Today I read in our paper about a woman who served as a volunteer in a school for many years doing every job imaginable and doing it without any fanfare. The students in that school over the years commented about how much she did for them in so many ways. So much of life they learned from this humble woman.
Do I put others' needs before mine? How can I be more of a foot washer today?
